In an event held at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi, Waqar was welcomed into the party by prominent figures including Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam, state Congress president Ajay Rai, and the chairman of the AICC Minority Department, Imran Pratapgarhi.
Waqar’s switch from AIMIM to Congress comes with sharp criticisms directed at his former party, led by Asaduddin Owaisi. He accused AIMIM of claiming to oppose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while primarily targeting Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and other opposition factions in its electoral pursuits.
