Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth from Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in an upcoming spin-off film directed by David Fincher. Titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the film promises to delve deeper into the life of the Hollywood stuntman with a shadowy past as he maneuvers through the evolving film industry. The storyline picks up in 1977, eight years after the original movie’s events, highlighting Booth’s adaptation to a transformed Hollywood landscape.
The film is poised for a theatrical release with a two-week global IMAX run starting on November 25, before making its way to Netflix for streaming on December 23. Although Quentin Tarantino penned the screenplay, he will not be at the helm for this project. Tarantino has expressed his enthusiasm for the Cliff Booth narrative but opted out of directing as he wishes for his final directorial venture not to be a sequel.
Joining Pitt in this star-studded cast are Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. The original film featured a notable cast including Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, set against the backdrop of late 1960s Los Angeles.
Renowned for his work on films such as Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network, and Gone Girl, David Fincher steps into the director’s chair for this project. His extensive experience also includes directing popular Netflix series like House of Cards and Mindhunter. This collaboration marks a significant creative shift, offering a fresh perspective on Tarantino’s iconic character through Fincher’s distinct directorial approach.
The reunion of Brad Pitt with his character Cliff Booth, combined with the creative synergy between Tarantino and Fincher, makes The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth a notable development in the cinematic world. As Pitt steps back into Booth’s shoes, audiences can anticipate a blend of nostalgia and new storytelling under Fincher’s unique vision.
