In a recent meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the focus was on bolstering cooperation and sustaining the positive trajectory in China-India relations. Wang Yi emphasized the importance of strengthening high-level exchanges and expanding collaboration in various sectors such as trade, media, and cultural interactions. He also highlighted the need for both nations to manage sensitive issues through dialogue and to enhance coordination on regional and international matters.
Wang Yi advocated for China and India to work collectively towards promoting multipolarity and championing the interests of developing countries. In line with this vision, he reiterated China’s support for India as it hosts this year’s BRICS summit and called for increased cooperation within the extended BRICS framework.
During the meeting, Jaishankar underscored India’s commitment to fostering a constructive and cooperative relationship with China. He restated India’s consistent stance on sensitive matters concerning Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), affirming India’s respect for Chinese sovereignty in these areas.
