Google Expands AI-Powered Gemini in Chrome to Android Users in India

by admin477351

Google has rolled out its Gemini in Chrome artificial intelligence features to Android users in India, enhancing the browsing experience with AI-powered capabilities. This update integrates AI assistance directly into the Chrome browser, enabling users to perform tasks such as summarizing webpages, connecting information across Google services like Gmail and Calendar, and generating images.

A new auto-browse feature is also being introduced for both desktop and Android devices, but it is available only to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in India. This feature allows the AI to navigate websites and complete complex, multi-step tasks that typically require users to visit multiple webpages. Tasks it can assist with include comparing products, finding deals, booking event tickets, making restaurant reservations, and scheduling appointments.

To ensure safe interactions, Google has equipped Gemini with safeguards to mitigate potential risks associated with AI agents interacting directly with websites. This includes identifying threats such as prompt-injection attempts and requiring user confirmation for sensitive actions. These precautions are essential when an AI system has the capability to make changes, submit forms, or conduct transactions on behalf of a user.

The number of multi-step tasks that can be performed using the auto-browse feature is contingent on the user’s subscription level. Google AI Pro subscribers can execute up to 20 multi-step requests daily, while Google AI Ultra subscribers have a higher limit of 200 requests per day.

This expansion marks a significant step in bringing more agentic AI capabilities into Chrome, transitioning users from simply querying AI to utilizing it for executing various web-based tasks. By integrating these advanced features, Google aims to enhance productivity and streamline online activities for users in India.
