As thousands remain missing on both sides of the border, approximately 500 workers are believed to be stuck within tunnels at hydropower sites in the severely affected Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. Meanwhile, the broader disaster has left tens of thousands of people affected, obliterating entire communities and raising pressing concerns about the impact of climate change on glacial and mountain regions. Nepalese leaders have described the flooding as an unprecedented natural disaster, with tens of thousands of security personnel and volunteers rallying to support the disaster response efforts.

International support has been forthcoming, with specialized rescue teams, funding, and technical assistance flowing in from neighboring countries, highlighting the magnitude of the crisis. Amid the destruction, rescuers experienced a glimmer of hope when they managed to save a young child from the mud. However, concerns have surfaced regarding the sharing of glacier and water-level data between neighboring nations. Some officials worry that gaps in information-sharing could impede future disaster preparedness and response in the region, necessitating improved cooperation.
