Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate, and her father, Rakesh Singh, a former soldier, have taken their grievances to Delhi, where they are protesting outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office. The protest is in response to the NTA’s dismissal of claims that examination results were altered. Several candidates have alleged discrepancies between their actual scores and the OMR answer sheets, but the NTA maintains that the images being circulated online are either fabricated or manipulated using artificial intelligence, and they do not align with the agency’s official records.
Hailing from Kanpur, Arya Singh asserts that her NEET-UG 2026 re-examination score was changed post-announcement. Initially, her score was displayed as 570 marks, which was later revised to 167, she claims. Arya further alleged that the OMR sheet provided by the NTA had inconsistencies, such as a missing question number and repeated serial numbers. After voicing her objections, Arya said she received a new OMR sheet reflecting a score of 609 marks.
The family remains unsatisfied with the explanations provided by the NTA. Rakesh Singh has expressed their intent to continue the protest until they receive a satisfactory resolution. He has also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the matter, urging action against what he describes as significant irregularities in the examination process.
The NTA has firmly rejected the allegations, asserting that all original OMR sheets are consistent with the declared scores. The agency emphasized the security of its examination documents, which are equipped with unique identifiers like barcodes and QR codes to prevent tampering.
This controversy stems from the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination held on June 21, following the cancellation of the original exam in May due to a paper leak scandal. The Central Bureau of Investigation is actively investigating the case to uncover the details surrounding the alleged irregularities.
