The Delhi government is set to embark on a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative, Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning September 17, as announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This month-long campaign aims to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service by unveiling and laying the groundwork for projects valued at approximately ₹13,800 crore throughout the capital.
A variety of events are scheduled to take place, including blood donation camps, health screenings for senior citizens, and sanitation efforts, alongside initiatives to clean the Yamuna River. Furthermore, registration camps for government welfare schemes will be held across all 70 assembly constituencies. A significant blood donation drive is planned for the campaign’s launch day, targeting the collection of 2,500 units. The government also intends to promote organ donation and organize health camps specifically designed for the elderly.
Major projects linked to the Yamuna, with an estimated cost of ₹8,000 crore, are anticipated to be launched during this period. Additionally, more than 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers are set to be recognized and celebrated for their contributions.
The initiative will also extend to educational programs for students and youth in approximately 5,000 schools. These programs will include painting and speech competitions, along with an innovation challenge encouraging the development of ideas for a progressive India.
Among the planned projects, ₹8,000 crore is allocated to Delhi Jal Board undertakings, ₹2,800 crore to public works department projects, ₹1,500 crore to power sector initiatives, ₹365 crore to irrigation and flood control projects, and ₹77 crore to tourism projects. This comprehensive campaign underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and welfare across Delhi, marking a significant stride in the city’s development trajectory.
